History charts

The history curve shows how one opportunity’s open spread, close spread and net funding moved over time. This page explains where to open it, how to read it, and how to choose the range and interval.

Where to find it

  1. In the market monitor, select an opportunity to expand its details.

  2. Choose History chart to open the chart window. It starts from the range you last viewed in this browser.

  3. Choose Open in new tab when you want it on its own page. That page keeps the range and interval in its address, so a link you share shows the same chart.

You can also pick a pair in search and open History curve from there.

How to read it

The chart has three lines: open spread, close spread and 8h equivalent net funding. Move the pointer over the chart to read all three at that moment, along with the funding rate of the long leg and the short leg.

  • The chart marks Highest open spread and Lowest close spread.

  • The chart marks a change in a leg’s settlement interval.

Use it to judge how stable the spread is and where the current spread sits in its history.

Net funding is measured one way only: the 8-hour equivalent. Each point converts the two legs from the settlement intervals they had at the time, then subtracts.

Range and interval

ControlMeaning
RangeHow far back the chart reads: 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days or 30 days, ending now.
Chart intervalHow much time one point covers: 1, 5, 15 or 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours or 1 day. Each point is the value at the end of its period.
  • Coarser intervals keep longer history; finer ones keep only the most recent stretch.

  • A chart needs at least 12 points. When there are too few, the range or interval switches to the nearest one with enough points.

  • Coverage is the first and last saved point at this interval. Where the chosen range reaches outside it, the chart has no points.

  • The chart updates as new points arrive.

  • How far back you can look depends on your plan. Locked ranges open once you subscribe to Professional; see Subscription and payment.

  • A new opportunity needs some time on record before a curve appears. Use the 1 minute interval until then.

Funding history

In the opportunity details, choose Funding rate details to open Funding history. It lists each settlement of the two legs over the last 5 days with the long leg, short leg and net difference, plus the Cumulative net funding rate difference, last 5 days, Covered period and Funding interval. It marks legs that use different settlement intervals. A spot leg has no funding rate.

For one asset’s settlements and multi-day totals on each exchange, use the funding rates page; see Funding rates page.
