Set up notification channels

Trade shows alerts on the web page and can also send them to Telegram and Feishu. This guide covers adding a channel, sending a test message and choosing where each alert type goes.

Supported channels

ChannelWhere alerts goWhat you prepare
TelegramA private chat with your bot, or a groupYour own bot, created with BotFather
Feishu group botsA Feishu or Lark groupThe webhook URL of a custom bot in the group

You add channels under Notifications in Settings. Web alerts are always on and need no channel.

Connect Telegram

  1. In Telegram, open BotFather, send /newbot, name the bot and copy the token it gives you. You only do this the first time you connect Telegram.

  2. In Trade’s Notification channels, choose Add channel, then Telegram, and paste the token. If you’ve added a bot before, pick it from the menu (Telegram · via bot name) and skip the token. To switch to a new bot, choose Telegram · Use a new bot.

  3. Choose how to receive alerts. With Personal · private chat, the bot messages you directly. With Group · add to a group, you add the bot to a group, and you can add it to several groups.

  4. Open the link in Telegram or scan the code on your phone. Tap Start for a private chat, or pick the group. The chat connects automatically and receives a Connected to ZML Trade message.

If the link expires, choose Generate a new link. To add another chat, choose Connect another chat.

One bot can serve your private chat and several groups, and each chat is its own channel in the list. The same bot can’t also serve another Trade or Z Market Lab, because Telegram delivers its messages to only one place. Trade warns you and suggests a separate bot for this one. If you use it here anyway, the other place can’t connect new chats and the buttons on its alerts stop working.

Connect Feishu

  1. In the Feishu group’s settings, go to Bots and add a custom bot. Leave Signature verification off.

  2. Copy its webhook URL.

  3. In Trade’s Notification channels, choose Add channel, then Feishu group bots. Enter the Channel name and paste the Webhook URL.

The channel connects when you paste the URL and a test message is sent. The webhook URL isn’t shown again after saving.

Send a test message

Choose Send test message on the channel, then check the chat for it. If nothing arrives, check that the channel is enabled and the bot is still in the chat.

Choose channels per alert type

The Alerts part of Settings → Notifications lists each alert type: Unrealized ROI alert, Funding cost alert, Forced liquidation risk, Strategy open spread, Strategy close spread and Position difference protection. The end of each row shows where that alert type goes. Select it to change it; the change applies to all combos right away.

  • Pick up to one channel of each kind: Telegram only, Feishu only, or both. With none picked, the row shows Web only and alerts appear on the web page only.

  • The condition must hold for 10 seconds in a row before the alert fires; if it lapses, timing starts over. While the condition keeps holding, the alert is sent again every 10 seconds until it clears. These times are fixed and can’t be changed.

  • The automatic alignment result is sent once.

  • Send test message in the opened panel goes to the channels currently selected for that alert type.

In the combo form, each row that sends an alert ends with the same destination. Changing it there also applies to all combos.

Do not disturb and sounds

  • Do not disturb: pick a scope (this combo, all combos on this coin, or all combos on this exchange) and a duration (1 hour, 8 hours or 24 hours). During that time no sound plays and nothing is sent out, while the combo row still shows the alert. Telegram alert messages also carry mute buttons.

  • Forced liquidation risk, Position discrepancies, Automatic alignment result and Funding cost alert aren’t affected by do not disturb.

  • The bell only turns alert and fill sounds on or off for the current browser.

When a channel stops sending

When Telegram no longer accepts a bot’s token, every channel that uses the bot shows Token no longer valid and stops sending. Open any one of them, choose Manage bot next to Sending bot, then Replace token. Replacing it once restores all of that bot’s chats. When a channel is deleted, it is removed from every alert type that used it. An alert type with no channel left shows Web only at the end of its row; pick a channel again. When a channel is disabled, alert types that use it show a red dot after the channel name at the end of the row, and the opened panel says Disabled, not sent; enable it again or pick another one. For other cases, see Alerts aren’t reaching Telegram or Feishu.
