Position mode doesn’t match

When you save an account, Trade sets the position mode it needs on the exchange where the market allows switching. If that step doesn’t complete, the account isn’t saved. Fix the reason in the message and save again.

What it means

When you save an account, if the position mode of that market can be switched, Trade sets the mode it needs and reads it back to confirm. That step didn’t complete, so the account wasn’t saved. The message shows the current value, the required value and the exchange’s own response.

Why it happens

  • The exchange refused the switch. Exchanges usually require no open positions and no open orders in that market before the position mode can change.

  • After switching, the mode still didn’t match.

  • Trade can’t switch the position mode for this market. Change it on the exchange to the mode named in the message.

  • The current position mode couldn’t be read from the exchange. The message shows Position mode unconfirmed; not saved.

What to do

  1. If the exchange refused the switch, close the positions and cancel the open orders in that market on the exchange.

  2. Go back to Trade and save again.

If the mode couldn’t be confirmed, save again a little later. For more, see Connect an exchange.
