Connect Aster

Aster connects with a wallet or an existing API wallet. This guide covers what to prepare on Aster and how to add the account in Trade.

Prepare on Aster

  1. Your main wallet must have made a deposit on Aster. Without a deposit, account data can’t be read and the account can’t be added.

  2. Use Pro mode. 1001x (Simple mode) is a separate product and cannot be connected.

  3. Use the main account of your main wallet. Sub-account APIs are not supported.

Adding with Connect wallet needs nothing else. To add with Enter API key, first authorize an API wallet on the Aster API management page. The private key generated during authorization isn’t shown again, so save it at that moment.

When you authorize the API wallet by hand, tick Perps trading, plus Spot trading if you trade spot, and leave Withdrawal unticked. If you give it an IP allowlist, add the addresses listed under Server egress IPs in the Add account window. An API wallet that Trade authorizes through Connect wallet has no IP restriction.

Account mode and position mode

The only account mode is Pro mode: order-book trading for spot and USDT/USDC/USD1 perpetual contracts.

Perpetuals must use Two-way positions. Trade verifies this when you save and switches it where Aster allows. If Aster refuses because positions or orders are open, close them, then save again.

Contract leverage is set in the combo, and Trade applies it on the exchange.

Enter it in Trade

In Trade, open Accounts, choose Add account, select Aster, then pick a Connection method. For the general steps, see Connect an exchange.

Connect wallet

Choose Connect wallet to connect your main wallet, then choose Authorize and add. Confirm each signature in your wallet as the window prompts. The window says what each step signs, how many signatures remain and any fee a step involves. No key is entered by hand. The authorization does not include withdrawals, and your main wallet can revoke it at any time.

A trading authorization created this way is valid for 365 days. Once it expires or is revoked, the account can’t trade and its status shows Trading authorization lapsed. Trade sends no separate notice. Choose Reauthorize on that account to restore it.

Manual API

FieldWhat to enter
API wallet addressThe API wallet address shown on the Aster API management page. Don’t enter your main wallet address
API keyThe private key shown with that API wallet. Don’t enter your main wallet’s private key
Main wallet addressType it, or choose Connect wallet to fill it in

If the window asks for an authorization, sign it with your main wallet as prompted.

Both methods also need an Account name and at least one of spot or perpetuals under Supported markets.

Common questions

“The account isn’t activated yet”

Aster requires the main wallet to have completed a deposit. Deposit on Aster, then add the account again.

“This API does not belong to this main wallet”

Use the API of this wallet’s main account, or connect the main wallet it belongs to. Sub-account APIs are not supported.

“The API wallet address and private key don’t match”

Both must come from the same API wallet. Check them on Aster and enter them again.
